The Sprinting Towards Sustainability: Amazing Race Adventure and Eco-Pavilion were held on April 25, 2009. The event was put on by RRVCCC as a concurrent event to the Mayor's Sustainable Winnipeg Symposium also occuring that day. Taking place at the Forks that day was an Eco-Pavilion in which many local environmental organizations displayed booths or vehicles. The main stage hosted several presentations, eco-trivia games and prize giveaways. The aim of this event was to encourage public interation and education on how to implement more sustainable practices into everyday aspects of their lives. The race portion of the event featured an amazing race style race where ten teams of two were challenged to walk, run, or bike through our downtown obstacle course to complete five mystery tasks related to sustainable transportation. The participants were given written clues which they had to decipher to find the next destination, it was a close race to the finish line, but fun was had by all!
