BIODIESEL UPDATE

Biodiesel Initiatives & Activities in Manitoba

Featuring a panel of speakers involved in the study and promotion of biodiesel in Manitoba, including:

  • Ken Mudry - Border Chemical: Ken will be sharing the results of a study on the use of biodiesel in their trucking fleet in the winter months, as well as the details of several initiatives their organization is spearheading to develop the Manitoba biodiesel market.
  • Bob Brennand - Manitoba Energy Development Initiative (Province of Manitoba): Bob will be discussing recent developments in the Manitoba biodiesel market and Provincial activities to promote biodiesel locally.
  • Ajaleigh William - Winnipeg Fleet Management Agency (City of Winnipeg): Ajaleigh will be addressing the City’s upcoming study of biodiesel use in heavy-duty equipment.

First Ever Canadian Plug In Electric Vehicle Conference to be held in Winnipeg....

PHEV2007 will be held in Winnipeg Nov 1 and 2, 2007. This conference is the first Plug in Hybrid Electric Vehicle conference in Canada. It will serve as a catalyst to stimulate the development of PHEV research, technology development, demonstrations and commercialization of PHEV vehicles across the country and in cooperation with US partners. Electric vehicle technology innovators, researchers, businesses and government agencies will gather in Winnipeg to focus on Canadian opportunities in this emerging field. Your interest and attendance at PHEV2007 will assure PHEV technology will contribute to sustainable mobility options in the near future.

In addition, PHEV2007 conference chair committee invites submissions of research and technical papers, presentations, and posters, including commercial or experimental applications. Technical contributions are welcomed, but not limited to the following topics:

  • Battery storage technologies, ultra capacitors and mechanical fly-wheels
  • Mathematical simulation of power-trains and vehicles
  • Link between PHEV and distributed or intermittent renewable energy
  • PHEV vehicle designs
  • Power supply and effect on utilities
  • Sustainable transportation
  • Policy and incentives required for PHEV
  • Vehicle-to-grid applications
  • PHEV demonstrations

Submission of technical abstracts is due June 20 and can be emailed to abstract@pluginhighway.ca
