May 31 - June 6 - Manitobans are challenged to Bike, Run, Walk, Bus, Carpool, or even Paddle for their commute! The Commuter Challenge encourages " healthier, cleaner commuting practices and reduces the reliance on vehicles for trips to and from the workplace and school" said Jim Rondeau, Science, Technology, Energy and Mines Minister. The Commuter Challenge is organized in Manitoba by Resource Conservation Manitoba. In 2008, the challenge had over 13,000 participants at 76 schools and 221 work places in Manitoba.

Canadian News: May 12, 2009 - Montreal Launches New Bixi Bike Sharing program

Thinking of traveling to Montreal? You can travel all around Montreal on one of their 3000 bicycles for rent from 300 stations throughout the city. The bike share costs $78 per year, $28 per month, or $5 per day. The bike stations are modeled after similar programs in Europe and are powered by solar energy. Montreal ranks 4th in North American Cycling Cities and has 500km of bike paths.
